What are French Adventures?

French Adventures are family-friendly activities for all ages that introduce the fun and excitement of using French in a wide range of adventures.  Learn about nature, history, sports, art and culture while picking up useful French vocabulary!

How do French Adventures work?

Each adventure is based on a theme. Everyone gathers together at the beginning to learn some key French words and expressions related to the theme. Then, adventurers set off to enjoy an activity that puts those new words and expressions to use!

How much French do I need to know?

Adventure French vocabulary is chosen to introduce basic ideas and activities can be done in English so no prior French knowledge is required. However, people with some French knowledge are likely to pick up a few new terms and expressions.


Coming Adventures

Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum

Saturday, July 9th Meeting time 11:00am

Meet in the lobby of the museum.

This French Adventure will start inside the museum with a tour and explanation of the relationship between the French and the Indians.  Then we will go to the powwow taking place that weekend.  Please note that, as a French Adventurer, your special priced pass will include entrance to the museum and the powwow for the entire weekend!

Please RSVP with the size of your party and the number under age six.


Adult: $12 (non-member) / $10 (member)

Child, under 15: $8 (member or non-member)

Family of 4: $30 (non-member) / $25 (member)

Learn terms related to the great outdoors, then enjoy a nature walk on Audubon Center trails during the peak of autumn beauty.

Sun Nov 8 

Learn vocabulary about airplanes and air travel, then take a guided tour through NH’s aviation history.

Holiday Party  at UNH

Sat Dec 5 

Learn holiday vocabulary through sharing songs, crafts and stories.

Enjoy a scavenger hunt with French science vocabulary.  It might surprise you how many are already familiar to you!

Meet the Author – Janis Hennessey

Saturday, March 5th.  Barnes & Noble, Manchester

Janis Hennessey is a NH author who writes children’s books for ages two through eight.  She will be reading her books in English and will interject with common/ repeated French words.  Kids will then have time to color while Mrs. Hennessey talks with parents on how to use her books as learning/ teaching tools.  Her books will be available at the event.
