Franco-Americans are woven deeply into the fabric of New England, and the Franco-American Centre is dedicated to celebrating that fact and ensuring it continues. This year alone, our work to engage the community and interest youth spawned new events including a French Video Contest, French Adventures, a Family Day and offering various trips. We also continued with events started last year : the fashion show, Half-way to Mardi Gras and the Soirée de Noël.
No culture exists in a vacuum, and the Franco-American Centre works to ensure our French communities maintain a vibrant connection to the rest of the French-speaking world. We offer programming ranging from speaking groups, our annual uncorking of the year’s Beaujolais Nouveau, a formal course on French films, to the month-long Mois de la Francophonie coordinated with our partners in the region as part of a world-wide celebration of French.
2015 marks the 25th anniversary of the Franco-American Centre, and in that time we have played a vital role in passing on the stories of our ancestors and finding homes for important cultural artifacts. Over several years, our regular lecture series has covered topics including the Rogers’ Rangers, book presentations and so much more.
We feel extremely fortunate for the great deal we accomplish on a small budget and a paid staff roughly equal to one and half person.
Your support, either as a member or as a one-time donation of $10, $20 or $50 or more, will have visible results through our programs, activities and growth. Please give as a gift to today’s casually curious Franco-American, to honor generations of our proud elders and to ensure that those who will follow us can know their story.
