Learning French extends far beyond the classroom. From language immersion programs and student exchanges to cultural travel experiences, these opportunities allow students to strengthen their French skills while building meaningful connections with francophone communities and cultures.
The programs featured on this page are offered by independent organizations and are not administered by the Franco-American Centre. We are pleased to share these opportunities as a resource for students and families interested in expanding their French-language learning through immersive and cultural experiences. 2027–2028 Lafayette Fellowship Applications Now Open
Are you an American student interested in pursuing graduate study in France while building connections with the next generation of French-American leaders? Applications are now open for the 2027–2028 Lafayette Fellowship.
Application Deadline: December 1, 2026
The Lafayette Fellowship offers up to 30 outstanding American students the opportunity to pursue one year of master's-level study in France. The program is open to both French-speaking and non-French-speaking candidates and partners with leading French universities and grandes écoles across STEM, the humanities, social sciences, and the arts. Degree programs are available in French or entirely in English.
In addition to their academic studies, Fellows participate in the French-American Leadership Program, an immersive experience exploring French and European innovation, culture, and public policy, along with opportunities for mentorship and leadership development.
The inaugural cohort launched the program last summer with a Summer Leadership Program that brought Fellows to Paris, Avignon, Arles, and Marseille. Through masterclasses, institutional visits, cultural experiences, and opportunities to connect with leaders across France, Fellows gained a deeper understanding of the country while building a strong community of their own. The program will continue throughout the academic year with additional sessions in Strasbourg and the Paris region.

Based in Maine, the Pan Atlantic Foundation promotes international exchange and cross-cultural understanding through a variety of educational and cultural programs. Students have the opportunity to experience life in another country, engage with new cultures, and develop valuable language, leadership, and interpersonal skills through immersive experiences. These programs encourage participants to broaden their perspectives while building lifelong friendships and connections across borders.
